Touring without a new CD to promote, 21 year old guitar whiz Jonny Lang brought his band to Las Vegas. This stop was at the sold-out House of Blues.

Starting off with a hot version of "STILL RAINING", Jonny had his hands full, especially with Joe Bonamassa opening up. The tired "GOOD MORNING LITTLE SCHOOLGIRL" was next. The Tinsley Ellis song "A QUITTER NEVER WINS" was a crowd favorite for both Ellis and Lang. "WALKING AWAY" featured some fine sax work by Lang's current sax player.

Jonny gave his band time to shine, it's just a shame we couldn't hear the band members' names. Lang strapped on an acoustic guitar for the ballad "MY IRISH ANGEL" to slow down the set. "I AM" was done well with the guitar and sax interplay, which ended the set.

The band returned for an encore, starting with "WANDER THIS WORLD". They jammed out a little longer and, of course, ended their show with "LIE TO ME". Jonny Lang is a hot guitarist-singer, but he's in desparate need of some new material to play live.

That was not the problem with Joe Bonamassa. Joe's sophmore effort, "SO, IT'S LIKE THAT", will be in stores soon. Bonamassa, drummer Kenny Kramme, and bassist Eric Czar made alot of new fans this night, playing songs from both CD's. The band attacked Jethro Tull's "A NEW DAY YESTERDAY" as well as it did "TAKIN' THE HIT", one of their new songs.

Kenny Kramme did a good little solo before the band went into "TROUBLE WAITING". The band then ended its short set on a high note, with "DON'T BURN THAT BRIDGE DOWN". This song highlighted Bonamassa's guitar work, and also featured a nice run by newlywed bassist Eric Czar. He'd gotten married that afternoon, so he was spending his honeymoon opening for Jonny Lang. Only in Vegas.
